Lions Denergy* was founded in 2017 by Ron Daniel, a geoscientist with decades of experience in oil and gas exploration and appraisal. The consultancy is based in London, UK.
Ron gained a BSc in Geology from the University of Durham in 1985 and his entire career has been spent in hands-on geology and geophysics, with extensive training, teaching, mentoring and team leadership contributing to a broad knowledge of plays and tools. Former employers include BP, Enterprise Oil, Paladin Resources, PetroCanada, BG, CNOOC, and Staatsolie, the last five as an independent consultant for Lions Denergy (April 2017 - present). Ron’s experience includes northern South America and the Caribbean, Ireland and the North Sea, and West and North Africa.
Ron is a chartered geologist (CGeol), a member of the Petroleum Exploration Society of Great Britain (PESGB), and a former board director of the Geological Society of Trinidad and Tobago (GSTT).
Ron is also an associate of ERCE Ltd, Merlin Energy and of Gerson Lehrman Group (GLG).
* The name is a contraction of Lion’s Den and Energy, reflecting interests in energy supply beyond oil and gas. The founder Ron Daniel was born in the village of Dennery on the island of St. Lucia in the Caribbean, and the biblical story of Daniel in the lion’s den is well known to many.
